The GW Law scholar spent decades navigating the labyrinth of immigration law and now makes use of that understanding to help battle for civil and human rights. A retired courtroom lawyer who never misplaced a jury trial, Burchfield, JD ’79, endows a new professorship in First Amendment law at GW Law. Explored AI’s potential to help in climate change efforts in her article Artificial Intelligence and Climate Change, printed in the Yale Journal on Regulation in 2020. Professor Stein turned to the intersection of AI and tort law in her forthcoming article Assuming the Risks of Artificial Intelligence, to be printed within the Boston University Law Review in 2022.
