We may say mental health is the healthy exercise of our mental abilities and capabilities. Some people may struggle to find meaning out of it. We say a person is mentally healthy when he is able to interact with other persons well. People who are able to handle changes and diversity are said to be mentally healthy. Normally, we don’t know how to really see what mental health can be. People tend to notice a person is not mentally healthy when he acts a bit of queer and not conforming to the standards we call normal. The fact is we don’t really care about other people’s mental health.
Without about, good mental health is something we don’t really give much attention to. We don’t really care even if we start noticing changes like mood swings and low tolerance happening. We may feel gloomy for an extended period of time, but we don’t find it something alarming. We may go at life without realizing something is wrong with our mental health or other person’s. We don’t give much thought about it. We or someone we know may suffer from depression. Depression is one of the most prevalent forms of mental illness. There are other disorders that happen out there. The fact is most of the disorders are not detected earnestly and will become an issue when it comes a problem and impacting the quality of life. The failure of recognizing these problems often lead to bigger costs. Another thing, people may not be amendable to get treated due to potential social backlash of having a mental disorder.
A lot of people think mental health is separate from physical health. We may not realize this, but often mental health can have a huge link and influence in maintaining good physical health. Some people who are suffering from mental disorders can also be sick of physical infirmities. Women may suffer from mild depression after giving birth. They also suffer from minor forms of mental health challenges when they are pregnant. Hormonal changes can cause problems and lead to challenges in mental health. Anxiety disorders can develop or worsen with people who are not able to sleep properly. There would be too much impact to the body when stress remains that can impact the body.
The key here is to be sensitive in finding out how good the mental health of the person is. Mental health can have an impact in diet and rest. People may become sicker than they are. Overthinking can also exhaust the people causing too much fatigue and stress.
While there are plenty of information about maintaining public health, not much has been done by people to help themselves or other people. Some of the problems go unreported and their cases could have been treated only if they went to the right people to get help. Bigger problems may ensue if the person gets no treatment at all.
